I've heard a lot of interesting theories about it, and kinda wanted to put my own down somehow, but after so much writing lately, I haven't been able to produce anything decent about it in that particular medium. So, I was sitting and I thought that maybe a sort of storyboard would help me along, or at least give me a way to express some of the things I was thinking about it.
I'd really like to be able to play through Resident Evil Zero again before I start writing, because I like to have dates and motives and such written down so that I can be accurate. >_< Guess I need to borrow it from my step-dad again.

That having been said, this is not a comic, really... I would have put a lot more effort into a comic... And words. I like putting in words. ^_^ This is more of a storyboard. I like storyboarding and I do it a lot for writing/fics, usually just in doodles and sketches, and they usually don't see the light of day. ^_^

He's wearing pants here, because I've imagined he'd either be doing this when he was initially working for Umbrella, or not too long after his rebirth. I've yet to think of how he got his hands on those robes or why, or what the significance of his pendant is. I'm sure I'll come up with something if I ever continue this little brain-thoughtness. It seems to me as though the game developers really just left James behind in a lot of respects. He needed SO much more screen time.

One idea is permanent, though, and it's one that a lot of other people have expressed, too; James Marcus' reasoning falls much more under the category of love... Although twisted by madness (obviously, why else would you want to give birth to leeches?), Dr. Marcus' affection for the only creatures he could ever really relate to seems to be the driving force for him initially, and later becomes that of revenge against his conspirators... This also could be, in part, the Queen Leech's will more than his, since she/it probably viewed him as a parent, or at the very least a creator. It's also been speculated to me that James became that way due to being lonely himself, unmarried and childless, or at least just childless.

Brilliant, lonely young scientist already on the verge of insanity, given the opportunity and resources to experiment with biogenetics to his heart's content? Yyyeeah, that's gonna go well.
Factor in the common idea of paranoia, the untrustworthiness of people in general- he wasn't wrong about that, now was he?- and his reclusive personality, and you begin to realize why he wouldn't have been in a relationship. Also, perhaps, he had bad experiences in love when he was younger... Maybe he was abused... Who knows?

Seriously, though, the guy needs a more extensive backstory. *nudges fic writers* Nudge nudge, wink wink.
